08/05/2005 – Have you ever wanted to shuttle in Fernie? You probably have heard of such trails as The Microwave Tower, Three Kings, and Porcupine Rim, but you just don’t have two 4×4’s, the direction, and the time to shuttle it yourself. Well your in luck! Backcountry Safari Shuttles is new to the valley this year and will cater to the demand for shuttle for hire service in Fernie, and its not your average shuttle vehicle. It’s a 1965 Mercedes Benz Uni Mog. Originally designed and built as a multi task utility vehicle, the Uni Mog made its way into the Swiss Army because of its ruggedness, and amazing versatility.
Departing from the town of Fernie the shuttle will take you to one of two downhill locations. It’s your choice, The Microwave Tower and Three Kings or Porcupine Rim. Both trails are double black diamond downhill fun for not the whole family. Body armour is recommended and you should feel comfortable riding steep terrain.
Never ridden the trail before and scared of getting lost? No problem, Backcountry Safari will hook you up with a knowledgable local guide. A guide is recommended for both trails, if you are new to Fernie, as the trail can be unmarked and unnoticable at times.
And whats a shuttle without a cooler of refreshments and snacks waiting for you at the bottom of the trail, courtesy of Backcountry Safari.
